About Us
Beck’s Books is a queer and neurodivergent-owned (primarily used) bookshop centering and celebrating marginalized voices. Our shop was born out of the need for accessibly priced books by authors who are often underrepresented on bookstore shelves.
We believe that everyone deserves to see themself on the shelf! As well as to expand their worldview by reading about experiences different from their own. It’s been proven that reading increases empathy and compassion. We believe that reading, specifically reading diverse literature, can move us toward a safer, more just, and more liberated world.
What does that look like in practice? The vast majority of our books come from queer, BIPOC, disabled, immigrant, and other historically marginalized and underrepresented writers. We also highlight leftist and dissenting voices.
In addition to our book inventory, all of our merch and gifts are either designed in-house or come to us from woman, queer, and BIPOC-owned small businesses. By shopping with Beck’s, you're supporting a small business ecosystem!
We’re also actively engaged in our communities and local activism. Since launching, we’ve donated dozens of books to Twin Cities little free libraries and non-profits, donated hundreds of dollars to local non-profits, mutual aid groups, and Palestine aid, we’ve distributed hundreds of red cards to inform folks about their civil rights, and we coordinated a fundraising raffle with other local small businesses to raise over $2,300 for Twin Cities Trans Mutual Aid.

Howdy, I’m Beck! I’m co-owner and namesake of Beck’s Books. I’m a double Leo, a proud plant parent, and a non-fiction lover.
I’ve been a passionate reader for my entire life, but grew up pretty siloed in a vastly white, cishet, Christian community. The world opened up to me in college when I was finally given the resources to read about lived experiences, perspectives, and ideas I never even knew existed. That’s why I believe so strongly in making literature by marginalized voices easy to find, accessibly priced, and fun!

Hey, I’m Tyler! The other co-owner of Beck’s Books. I’m a a music lover, a fiction reader, and a lifelong learner.
I started my journey into reading later in adulthood. Because of undiagnosed ADHD, I’ve always struggled with reading, but I’ve been learning what works for me, as well as some tips and tricks I’m happy to share with other folks who want to read but don’t know how to get back into it!
